Cats and dogs tolerating each other? Fine. Cats and dogs playing together? Ok. Cats and dogs wearing jet-packs, working as secret agents and saving humanity, all in time for dinner? Probably only in “Cats & Dogs: The Revenge of Kitty Galore”, released this Friday, July 30. The film uses a seamless mixture of real-life animal actors and CGI animation to bring us the sequel to “Cats & Dogs” (2001). Warner Bros explains what our faithful pets are up to this time round: “In the age-old battle between cats and dogs, one crazed feline has taken things a paw too far. Kitty Galore, formerly an agent for cat spy organization MEOWS, has gone rogue and hatched a diabolical plan to not only bring her canine enemies to heel, but take down her former kitty comrades and make the world her scratching post. Faced with this unprecedented threat, cats and dogs will be forced to join forces for the first time in history in an unlikely alliance to save themselves – and their humans.” The movie premiered in LA last Sunday, at a bash attended by many of its voiceover stars: Bette Midler, James Marsden, Sean Hayes and Christina Applegate amongst them. Although cats and dogs may work together in the film, not all of the actors are quite as impartial. James Marsden - the voice of Diggs, a German Shepherd police dog – told ETonline “I’m a dog person. I’m allergic to cats”. Bette Midler, on the other hand, found her Sphinx cat character “so adorable” that it convinced her to take part in the movie. But whether you like cats, or if you are a canine-only pet-lover, this film promises to bring you a host of loveable screen stars – “Just like real spies… only furrier.” |
